About Us
What is NCERT?
The National Center for Education Research and Technology (NCERT) is comprised of prominent school district superintendents from throughout the country. In association with the superintendents is a distinguished group of education-related corporate members who participate actively and collaboratively with the group. Membership is by invitation and limited to 85 superintendent members and 10 corporate leaders. The group focuses on contemporary issues of interest to the CEO of a school district.
Why Should A Superintendent Join NCERT?
Our members have had the opportunity to:
- Investigate the latest in education-related technology
- Network with outstanding superintendents from areas throughout the country to share best practices and money saving ideas
- Network with education-related company executives
- Along with their spouse, attend semi-annual NCERT conferences wherever they are held across the country
- Attend NCERT meetings and events at the local, state or national level
- Obtain significant discounts on consultants for virtually any need
- Receive special institutional pricing from selected corporate members and free grants from others
- Listen to and meet noted authors in the field of education management, such as Ken Blanchard, Jim Belasco and William Byham
- Propose a research project which could benefit the entire membership
- Participate in ongoing research projects
- Consult at no cost with our cadre of nationally known board/superintendent consultants on any issue or strategy that might arise in the course of the superintendency
How Does A Superintendent/District Become A Member of NCERT?
A current or emeritus member who is aware of the outstanding work being done by that individual must recommend the superintendent for membership. Members of the national board, usually based upon region, review all recommendations. Each approved recommendation results in a nomination to the group and an invitation to attend the next NCERT meeting.
How Does A Corporate Leader Become A Member of NCERT?
NCERT staff gathers information on the interested corporate leader and schedules a conversation with the NCERT Executive Director. Based on the recommendation of the Executive Director, members of the national board review the information. Each approved recommendation results in a nomination to the group and an invitation to attend the next NCERT meeting.
What is NCERT Doing In The Area of Research?
NCERT members periodically select, guide and contribute to educational research projects. A good example is a past project, the NCERT National Reading Initiative. We held two highly successful best practices reading and literacy conferences, "Every Child a Proficient Reader (June 2003)," and "Keys to Closing the Achievement Gap (June 2004).
